This month, we explore the quiet burdens we carry and the questions we ask when life refuses to make sense. In Series of Rationalities, Gage Fauber unpacks grief, masculinity, and memory in a deeply personal essay that spirals from casual conversation into existential reckoning.
Other pieces in the issue echo that sense of weight and wandering. In IV, Peter J. Stavros renders the slow ache of illness and the surreal limbo of waiting to get better. The poems—Rapture in the Sky, Chiffonier Treasures (by Andy Oram), and Inheritance (by Gracie Jones)—offer a soft counterbalance, tracing loss, legacy, and the strange comfort of being tethered to something beyond ourselves.
Together, these works confront what we owe to the people who shaped us, the names we inherit, and the versions of ourselves we’re still trying to become.
